The Roughriders issued this press release this morning. We are hoping you will once again get behind us to help change the lives of 2 disabled veterans. Two Lincoln motorcycle riding groups seeking two Disabled American Veterans to receive personal high-end all-terrain mobility chairs commonly referred to as track chairs: For a person confined to a wheelchair and/or with limited mobility, everyday life can mean never again enjoying outdoor activities. But this summer, two local Disabled American Veterans will receive free, personal all-terrain mobility chairs to expand their everyday quality of life. Rocket Mobility, a new Lincoln company, is donating one of its new high-end, Tomahawk all-terrain wheelchairs at The 2015 Roughriders’ Charity Ride on June 27. The company manufactures outdoor tracked wheelchairs that help people reclaim their off-road independence by giving the operator the ability to resume activities he or she enjoyed when they had full mobility, like hunting, fishing, backpacking and camping. Unlike traditional wheelchairs, an all-terrain wheelchair runs on tracks, similar to tanks that allow users to move easily and smoothly over rough terrain, including inclines. The Roughriders are taking the lead in locating two local Disabled American Veterans and are asking for community help in finding candidates for the giveaway. Viewers are urged to email names and contact information of qualified candidates to roughridersne@gmail. The candidate should be from the Lincoln area and also be an honorably discharged Disabled American Veteran with severe mobility problems. However, the candidate does not need to have lost his or her mobility as a result of military service. The Lincoln Combat Vets and The Roughriders motorcycle groups, in addition, will award an Action Trackstander “New Way to Stand,” to a Disabled American Veteran on June 27. The giveaway is in conjunction with a raffle, in which 11 prizes will be awarded that same day, the grand prize being a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle of the winner’s choice (actually a $19,000 Gift Certificate to Frontier Harley-Davidson). The total proceeds of the raffle will be used to purchase the Action Trackstander that will be awarded that evening. Raffle tickets are available for $20 each and are limited to 1,750 tickets available for purchase. Complete information about the raffle and where to purchase tickets can be found at either of the motorcycle riding group’s websites listed below.
