The Run Doonhame2 starts in Wick in just over a week on Tuesday 6 May. Five officers from Dumfries and Galloway Division of Police Scotland will be attempting to complete a 1000+km (approx 650 miles) relay run in under 6 days. They will each cover a distance comparable to a marathon a day for the 6 days of the challenge running to three of the extremes of the compass on the Scottish mainland visiting John O’ Groats in the north, Ardnamurchan in the west and the Mull of Galloway in the south before returning to Dumfries. At the same time a challenge is ongoing at Bannatynes Health Club in Dumfries where 100+ people have risen to the challenge, including Police Scotland staff, members of local sports clubs and other members of the public who will try to cover a greater distance on the treadmill than the team out on the roads. Money is being raised for three very worthwhile charities: • BBC Children in Need • West Sound Radio – Cash for Kids • Care of Police Survivors (Cops) There are still a few spaces available for the challenge at Bannatynes and if you wish to take part, 30 minute slots can be booked at doonhame2.co.uk/ You can follow the progress of the run on Facebook at https://facebook/pages/The-Run-Doonhame/147098615439029 If you would like to make a donation to the charities you can do so at justgiving/teams/doonhame2
