The SWYAF is distinguished by the following characteristic; We are dynamic South West Youth Forum, nonpartisan, built on democratic principles and good governance; we bring fresh ideas, voices and leadership to debates on regional and national issues. Our role is to improve the socio-political wellbeing of the South West region of Western Nigeria. We work in partnership with other Yoruba socio-political organization, non-governmental organization (NGO), government agencies, business leaders and captain of industries, political leaders, youth leaders and community leaders and other socio-political organization within Southwest States. 1. It is a forum open to all and all regions of the country, pays special attention to facilitating contact, dialogue and collaboration among youth in Nigeria. It fosters personal relationships and the exchange of experience among youth members, promote meetings, seminar and holding meetings at the state level, and as well as organizing events of various kinds to promote youth agenda. 2. Youth to engage directly with one another in grassroots development projects, cultural exchange and peace building efforts. 3. Forum serves to empower young leaders, educate communities, foster lasting participation and support the capacity of grassroots initiatives. 4. Expose and educate other young people and community to the special oppression young people suffer in our society. 5. Our forum is democratically run and opens to all youths. 6. Provide political platform that unites youths together on youth centred issues, promote patriotism and civic participation. 7. Connect youth’s voters with young political candidates. 8. All members must have the interest of their community at heart and work hard to affect the democratic process. 9. Catalyst for youth movement that will encourage transparency and accountability all level.
