The Salvation Army is one of the few charitable organizations I donate to, mostly food donations once a month. The local one here, and the one in my hometown, do an incredible job of trying to help every person who walks through their doors. I have volunteered at both SAs and Ive seen them in action. They treat the people coming to them for help with respect. They dont discriminate who they help and they dont attach any strings. Yes, they do discriminate in their hiring because they are a religious organization and I have ZERO problem with that because I have ZERO problem with the First Amendment. Who you donate to, and why, is your business. Im writing this as a gentle hint that you may not want to believe every fb meme or every activist blog post as, pardon my pun, holy gospel.
