Winter strength training can seriously help your summer performance and comfort on the bike. During winter months, do one to three sets in each of the following areas two or three times a week (but not on consecutive days): 1. Upper-body pushing exercise (push-ups, bench presses, dips) 2. Upper-body pulling exercise (pull-ups, bent rows, upright rows) 3. Abdominal exercise (crunches and variations) 4. Lower-back exercise (back extensions) 5. Leg exercise ( step-ups, lunges, light squats)
