The Schendel family has some news to share with you all that may - TopicsExpress

The Schendel family has some news to share with you all that may come as a bit of a shock, so we will try to break it to you as delicately as possible. It has come to pass that I (Len) have accepted a job offer in small town outside of Houston (near Conroe) and are in the process of relocating there (before the end of the month). This is a new position in a very large school district but one that is right up my alley; it was an offer I just couldn’t say “no” to. Many of you probably know that Candida and I have been a part of this Mended Little Hearts of San Antonio group since its original founding days back in 2007. MLH has been a HUGE part of our lives ever since. We often think of this group as if it were one of our own children…so the idea of just leaving it behind is not a pleasant thought! Obviously our ability to continue working with MLHofSA is certainly going to be stretched…but not severed. We will continue to do what we can from afar, but aside from the “computer stuff” our participation and leadership is going to be pretty limited. Over the last several weeks/months we’ve been working a lot with Samantha Klinges (who many of you know through Dr. Kup’s office) and after much discussion she has agreed to step up and transition into the leadership role of this group. We both know she will be a great asset to this group moving forward and we will work closely with her both now and in the future as needed. We will also work with her as she seeks to recruit group members in filling other needed roles and responsibilities. It really has been a pleasure to work with you all for such a great cause. We have seen this group blossom from very humble beginnings into one that is looked up to and revered among other MLH groups; and we’re often asked what is the secret to our success…to which we respond “it’s just San Antonio people…we’re cool like that!” There have been so many friendships and so many great memories have been forged through this group, and we hope they will continue. Remember too that more and more families are affected by CHD every day, and they too need the caring, friendship, and support from a group like this; which after all is the primary purpose of this organization. Thank you all for what you do for this cause!
