The Secret Place thought for today is …”His sheep follow Him - TopicsExpress

The Secret Place thought for today is …”His sheep follow Him because they know His voice.” John 10:4 NIV. I use this thought today because God, Jesus, and God’s word are still under extreme persecution today just as it has been for thousands of years. The culture we live in today just has a different way of persecution and it can be very confusing at times and make us wonder just who is right and wrong in light of what God is saying to us in and through His word. With that said, I challenge you to go read 1 Kings 13:1-25 when you have the chance and then re-read it enough so you can begin to see how this theme fits every society that has ever lived. This story is about a king and two men of God and how in the end the judgment of God was more extreme on the “man of God from Judah” rather than the corrupt older prophet or the evil king. One huge meaning of this story is what prevails in the end. In most books or movies there is always a prevailing hero or villain in the end, somebody always wins right? So what does prevail in the end here in 1 Kings 13:1-25? THE WORD OF GOD PREVAILS, not the king, or either prophet, or the animals or anybody. Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Remember, everything on earth will pass away one day, the Bible teaches this also, and I for one am glad this current world will be gone one day. Our ultimate focus should be on God’s word and not on the mouth of people or the word’s people write. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” In every twist and turn and in every failure and success that we each face during our life, the Word of the LORD, which has the power to divide and, ultimately, the power to unite, overcomes every force that comes against it. Dear God, help us to rely only and fully on You for guidance in our lives. May we trust only You and understand Your voice in all circumstances and rest in the peace You provide through your word and by Your love for us! Father God I pray that you will lead us, guide us and direct us in all our ways! In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
