The Separation of Church and State is Unconstitutional The 1st - TopicsExpress

The Separation of Church and State is Unconstitutional The 1st Amendment forbids the government from regulating religion; it does not prohibit religious organizations from participating in politics. Despite this, lawyers and politicians regularly attempt to restrict religious freedom; the most well known example is the use of the IRS to threaten a religious organizations tax exempt status if a religious organization participates in politics. So why is it that our publicly funded school systems and so many politicians emphasize the concept of separation of church and state? Could it be that our current government officials are more concerned with government growth and their own power than with freedom? Could it be that our politicians are attempting to backdoor the 1st Amendment? Or, is it something else? The very foundation of freedom is threatened when a government is powerful enough to tell people what can and cant be discussed within their own communities. Historically, American churches (as well as synagogues, temples, etc.) often clothed, fed, and provided shelter for the less fortunate. Today, few of these same organizations are allowed to do so without purchasing cost prohibitive permits from the government. Ironically, bloated government organizations with overpaid civil servants have sprung up to fill the gap at great cost to taxpayers. Compassion has been replaced with bureaucracy. During recent years weve seen government attacks on religion, government attacks on freedom of speech, government attacks on freedom of the press, and government attacks on the right to peaceably assemble. If you are not already involved in politics then today is the time to get involved. What will you do to protect freedom? ~ Colin M. McGroarty
