The Sierra Leone Embassy in Riyadh, capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host a Diplomatic Reception in commemoration of Sierra Leones 53rd Independence Celebrations on Sunday, 27th April, 2014. The reception will take place at the prestigious Riyadh Palace Hotel in down town Riyadh. Invitees include, Saudi Government Officials, Diplomats, International Organizations, Investors, the Media and a number of Sierra Leoneans living across the Kingdom, to name but a few. The reception starts from 7 : 00pm - 9: 00pm. Speaking to reporters on the eve of the occasion, the newly appointed envoy to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji M.S. Kargbo (in photo) said that Sierra Leone’s Independence on 27th April, 1961 was an important milestone in African history and deserved to be observed and celebrated in a grand style by Sierra Leoneans in the Kingdom and all over the world. He added that 27th April should serve a day for all Sierra Leoneans to pay tribute to the founding fathers and mothers of Sierra Leone and all those who fought for the country’s Independence from British rule. We will use the opportunity on the occasion of our national day to market our country to potential investors and we have many programmes that will attract these investors tommorrow, Kargbo disclosed .
