The Single Mom… It’s been a very tedious week and so very tired, but my husband successfully took me to the late night movie yesterday, for the opening weekend of the Single Moms Club by Tyler Perry. The single mom huuuuuum, we mostly ostracized them, we sometimes take advantage of them instead of encouraging and supporting them and to sometimes celebrate them. Most single moms didn’t become single by choice but by circumstances beyond their control. I was once a single mom, though it was brief but I know what it feels like, the struggle, heartache, loneliness, making all the decisions and panicking if you are making the right one. The strength of a single mom is indescribable; it is hard enough to be a mother but the hardest when you are a single mom. I have many friends who are single and I know many that were raised by single moms and yet they are one of the most overlooked people in our society. Most will never complain and never ask for handouts but they do all they have to do just to raise their children. Your family sometimes think you are a failure, your married friends sometimes run away from you thinking you may snatch their husband from them, at the same time, your single friends think they are still better than you. You are in church to find a refuge and the church people are not making your life easier too. I was out all day on Thursday helping my friend out on errands; she is a single mom of three children. And I just kept listening to her; it was all about the children and I just couldn’t stop thinking how strong she is with all she is dealing with. Some fathers think they are punishing their Ex by not supporting the kids but in a way hurting the children. Men think they are doing you a favor by helping their own children financially and some will not even help at all financially, thinking they are punishing the mom. Most are working mothers, some work more than one job and take all the overtime just to make ends meet. I feel you my friends, I’ve been there and lost it so many times thinking how cruel people even close pals can be sometimes, just because you are single. I want to say, even though you may think you are a failure for not getting it all together, you are not. You are bold, strong and trying your best. I know some aren’t but I wish we all can support and encourage someone today for all their effort. God bless you for all you do, just for your children to have a room over their heads, to have food in their tummy, to have clothes to cover them and education for them to be somebody in life. Thank you for trying, bless your heart for not giving up and remain focused and all will be well. I pray that God will crown your effort and you will reap the fruits of your labor on these children. You will not bury them; the devil will not snatch them from you. You will not be found wanting when it is your time to sit down, stretch your feet and harvest your labor in Jesus name.
