The Smart Democrats !!!. By: Jon Bowden The 2016 general election for president, may very well be the most important election for democrats in decades. Having lost both the house and the senate to republicans in the last midterm elections, it is critical that we have a democrat in the White House to stall any and all challenges to all the programs that President Obama and democrats have fought so hard for. Present Obamas legacy is at stake. Republicans are determine to erase the history that will be attached to this President. We are experiencing a very conservative mode throughout America that does not bode well for the middleclass or the poor. This tide of conservatism is very puzzling. President Obama has returned America to levels of excellent that former President Bush destroyed with his callous approach to governing. To prove my point, all one has to do is compare the state the country was in when President Bush left office to the vast improvements that we are now witnessing. Employment is 5.8 % compared to 10.8 % when Mr.Bush left office, gas price are just above $ 2.00, our soldiers are not dying in high numbers in foreign lands. President Obamas desire to increase the minimum wage for low income workers was rejected by many in the republican party. Why would anyone want to revert back to those conditions that would surely be the agenda under a republican administration. So, where are we as we prepare for the 2016 general election. Who will be our candidate to save the republic from certain ruin?.There is only one candidate that can save the country from this republican onslaught. That candidate in my opinion is Hillary Clinton. Vice President Joe Biden, a career politician, while highly liked by democrats cannot win a general election in 2016. No one else has the political pedigree or name recognition that Ms. Clinton has.The names thrown out there: Senator Elizabeth Warren has declared that she has no interest in a 2016 run, which is smart thinking on her part, Former Virginia Senator Jim Webb, Jim Who?, and the former Governor of Maryland Martin Mallory, who just lost his governorship to unknown republican Larry Hogan in the 2014 midterm elections.. If democrats are to remain viable in the coming years, we must have a candidate who can win. Its just that simple. Those who still harbor ill feelings against Ms. Clinton for running against President Obama in 2008, must be mature enough to forget the 2008 campaign, and think about the well being of all Americans for years to come. President Obama must not be afraid to use the power of the veto to stop those right wing loons, like Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and New Jersey Governor, Chris ( close the bridge) Christy, who will test his resolve during the balance of his term. They have already gave us a sampling by their rhetoric that is foreign to the hopes of average Americans throughout America. Smart democrats must be concerned democrats!!!..We cannot afford to allow party squabbling to deter us from victory in 2016. Will Rogers, the late great American Writer, was asked by a reporter to declare his political affiliation, he said the following: I dont belong to any organized political party, I am a Democrat. That quote sums up the essence of what a political party should be. Any political party should be able to openly discuss all facets of many issues. But, when the squabbling is over, there must be unity of purpose. Now is the time for smart democrats to unite, before the tides of destruction that will be created by republicans can harm any American , no matter their political party. Earlier I spoke of Ms.Clinton political pedigree. Her political resume is excellent. Firstly, she was married to perhaps the most brilliant politician that we will see in our lifetime, Former President Bill Clinton, who served two terms in the White House. She served as the first female senator from the state of New York, and lastly as Secretary of State under President Obama during his first term. No current possible candidate can equal her experience in foreign affairs. The next president of the United State must have knowledge of both our alleys and adversaries. If you have gotten the impressive that I am supporting Ms.Clinton in 2016, then you are indeed a smart democrat...
