The Struggle is real: After taking another drumming, the lessons my 0 and 4 football team (coaches, players, and parents) have not learned: 1.) No parent, it is not baffling...we do have the 2 fastest guys on the field...but your son blocks like the edge of a waterfall, he aint stopping nothing and its downhill from there! 2.) I believe in positive reenforcement, but your son recovering a kickoff he should have caught in the first place is not a good play nor grounds for celebration! 3.) I cant call pass plays when the defense is beating the ball to the quarterback! 4.) They and the previous 3 teams are not playing dirty, they are playing football. So dont tell our kids to play dirty when they have yet to play football! 5.) If your son is still confused where the tight end should line up at this point, after 7 weeks and 4 games of practice and me telling him as I was putting him in the game, either he needs to be tested or hes passive aggressively telling you and me he doesnt want to play football. 6.) Your son is slow...and Im not trying to kill his (and your dreams) of him being a wide receiver...but he is slow...and I know hes 10 and will grow, but he looks like a wounded duck when he runs...and hes slow...like like 2 seconds behind our fastest kids 40 time! But it really doesnt matter...because we cant pass the ball, we block like the edge of waterfall...please refer back to numbers 1 and 3. 7.) in case you missed it in the sign up package before your parents paid for you to play, but football is a contact sport. 8.) Yes, I see the kids that are crying after such losses. But Im more interested in how you can take such losses and not cry...I understand sensitivity training...but it needs to be said...only a loser is comfortable with losing... 9.) Sports shall be the ruin of America...of course a kid will not work hard if he knows I have to play him so many plays a game...not to sound old, but I remember when if you didnt earn playing time then you got no playing time...maybe little Timmys bruised ego would make him work harder or at least try harder or at best play golf or tennis or patty cakes...oh wait, hes playing patty cakes now, unfortunately the other team keeps missing our hands and hitting us square in our mouth!!! Because football IS A CONTACT SPORT! 10.) we are losing 39 to nothing! Stop telling your son hes doing good...hes not... 11.) Its an insult when the visiting team wins the toss, defers, kicks it to you, then after half time defers again and kicks it to you again... 12.) At some point, have enough respect for yourselves and hit somebody! Two plays after saying this, the left tackle gets driven so far back and hard and fast, he stumbles into the quarterback and tailback, knocking them down...guys I should have been more specific on who to hit... I could go on, but I guess go to bed...got to make it to Sunday School and Church...got a lot of praying to do...cause only baby Jesus can fix this...
