“The Sumi Blog” organizes 1st Sumi Solidarity Concert Zunheboto: “The Sumi Blog”, a social networking group under the aegis of the Sumi Hoho, organized a “Solidarity Concert” to mark the first Sumi Martyrs’ Day at Sukhalu Village on Sunday. Renowned Sumi musicians and singers, both young and old took the stage to show solidarity to the three Sumi Martyrs’ who died during the “Mukali siege” in December last year. Thousands gathered as the “Nagagenous” began the concert performed with their Indigenous musical instruments that entralled the crowd. Ilitoly Aye, Naga Idol finalist belted out two songs signifying Sumi Unity and Solidarity much to the delight of the crowd. All the artists acknowledged the sacrifice of three brave Sumi volunteers who gave their lives in honor and dignity of Sumi womenfolk. The Kerugma (Choir from Kohima), Vika Rotokha, Ilokali Jimo, Akashe Chophy, Mughashe Yepthomi, Nogheli Muru, Canato Jimo and Kiyevi Ayemi were among those who performed in the evening. The show ended with a song “Lullaby” and “Zuuvelo” (sleep) from Nagagenous which carried the message of unity among the Sumis and for the souls of the brave hearts to rest in peace. Earlier greeting the crowd that had gathered to witness the concert, Sumi Hoho President, Toniho Yeptho acknowledged the talent among the Sumi people in the field of music. He asked the singers and musicians to utilize the God gifted talent and spread the message of unity and peace through their music and performances. He also lauded the Sumi Blog for organizing the event and hoped that this would be an annual event. Miss Sumi 2014 Kihikali said a message on “Ode to Sumi Warriors.” The show was hosted was Atheli Zhimomi, Miss Sumi 2013 and Dr.Daniel, pastor ZTSBC invoked God’s blessing.
