The Sunnyside of the Doc 2014 market introduction worshops presented by ATFT in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg The Sunnyside of the Doc 2014 Market Introduction Workshop The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and The Association for Transformation in Film and Television (ATFT) is inviting you to an export market readiness workshop on the Sunnyside of the Doc documentary and factual market 2014 in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. As part of our mandate to up skill our members in financing, distribution, sales and co-production, ATFT will host three workshops in three cities in preparation for the Sunnyside of the Doc market taking place between the 23rd - 26th of June 2014 in La Rochelle, France. The workshops are open to any interested parties who are looking to attend next years Sunnyside of the Doc, but are essential to delegates attending this years market with the ATFT/dti delegation. The workshops will be split into two parts and the days programme will be as follows: 09h00-13h00 : The morning session is an introduction to ATFT and how our delegations work, as well as an introduction to the Sunnyside of the Doc market and is for anyone who has never attended the market before. We will also explain the DTI EMIA scheme used to finance the delegations to attend these markets and how to apply through ATFT or as individual companies through the Individual Exhibitor scheme. We will also cover international feature film financing, sales, distribution and co-production and on how to make the most of the Sunnyside of the Doc market and attract investment to your project or sell finished films. 13h00-14h00 : Lunch 14h00-16h00 : The afternoon session is specific to attendees projects and how to go about selling them or financing them at this market. Attendees can ask the facilitator Peter Hamilton for advice and pitch their project to him and their peers. The Sunnyside of the Doc workshops will be facilitated by renowned documentary and factual expert Peter Hamilton. Peter Hamilton directs Peter Hamilton Consultants, Inc. where he helps his clients to successfully develop, produce and market television content. His clients since 1987 have included Discovery Communications, A+E Networks, Smithsonian Channel, NBC, BBC, Scripps Networks, Weather Channel, ABC Australia, Singapore’s Media Development Authority, and Paul Allen’s Vulcan Foundation. Notably, he developed and helped execute the business plan for Discovery International, now a $12Bn enterprise. For established players and newcomers, Peter Hamilton assesses concepts, undertakes market studies, creates business plans, identifies partners, develops marketing and distribution strategies, and actively contributes to their successful implementation. His firm has helped plan and launch dozens of factual networks worldwide.
