The Sydney Hash House Harriers Smiley’s Posh Chronicle The Larrikins Host the Posh Hey snow – I heard that there was no beer at the bucket; then bugger me mate Run Date: October 7th 2014 Run No. 2466 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With great anticipation the hashes from near and far travelled to Waverton not realizing there was a large informal check back at Waverton Station The Larrikin President, Venerable, had left the country in quick smart pace when the pack realized that the real start of the run was down several hundred metres away at the old Coal loader. They were all there from the Posh, Thirsty Hash, Northern Beaches Hash, the North Shore Wanderers and the Larrikins of course working behind the scenes that there was a large bucket at the end for the thronging crows Darwin, ever the ladies man was supervising his young ladies into his circle whilst Mash ,in shorts, could be lurking in the background taking notes ( how does he do it someone heard him utter) . Dicky Best returned to the fold after a bout of surgery and resting his new knee – (welcome back Arbitrator) and Philthy was there with Hell Raiser after a trip to Europe. Aytalloh, ever vigilant, was introduced to Sniffer Dog and Goldmart from the Botany Hash and was greatly impressed while Jungle was circling around looking for some company being the quite guy he is. Druid was in the swing of things on this Octoberfest night wearing a felt hat with feather and Edelweiss badge as was Mongrel dressed up in German gear, hat and bright red socks. It was lucky 4X was not there as Hill of Grace was checking out the tight German shorts adorning the superior anatomy of Druid. Off went the pack of some 110 starters or more through the impressive sandstone cavern that formed part of the historic coal loader. There was Moishe paired with W3 discussing in some detail his recommendations on “hot “books to read whilst Kitty and Maid Marion were in deep conversation ( ignoring desperate calls from afar about some phone call he was going to receive) and Centrepoint was also in conversation with a Larrikin partner who was talking about the merits of a new app called Gindr ( I wonder what that could be) Around Balls Head ( named after Lt Lidgbird Ball, Commander of HMS Supply) went the pack with the front runners being Calici, Jungle Jim , Choice, Last Card Louie and Salpetre leading the with Boomerang keeping up the pace There was a check on the Berry’s Bay side which caught Poly Unsaturated and Copra then back the pack went to Balls Head Drive with a further check leading to a set of stairs down a service road that ran along the waterfront at Berry’s Bay running across a delightful situated Waverton Park. By this stage the pack was well stretched out with Moishe, Choice and Duckweave leading the way however Kitty was well behind after receiving a mobile phone call from his bookmaker according to Polly It was around Union Street that the pack was confronted with a over 200 steps up to Bank Street with Scud and Centrepoint and Peedub making a hard work of the big climb. It was at this time that Spud was seen loitering around the very attractive North Shore Wanders trail master, Polar Beer as he appreciated a night off from his normal Monday night map reading course. Up to the Waverton shops and back down to the Coal loader for a well deserved beer at the bucket – so we thought !! – it seems the committee of 2( 5 missing in action) never thought they would be over 100 turn up A riot nearly broke out as the beer ran out at the bucket – unspeakable nor forgiveable; not even water. Some of the posh including Frenchie had to even plead with Nympho for a drink ( half your luck ) Choice was out of there like a flash closely followed by the French Connection while Scud and Aytollah generously gave Hill of Grace a sip for a peck – so chivalry of them Laudrymat was seen to hastily and under the cover of darkness make a rapid dart in his red Kombi for the nearest bottleshop. Fortunately there was no circle for the traditional Posh and great Nosh of German food ( including 2nds from Scud, Centrepoint and Smiley )was had by all washed down by copious amount of plentiful beer thanks to the red Kombi – how do they do it the Posh cried !! A very convivial evening was had by all with great scenery (of all types) and an excellent location thanks to North Sydney Council On On for our 1st Summer Run next Monday hosted by Superglue Your Hash Journey Where you went on Run 2466 - see map below courtesy of Your Choice Summary Distance 5.49km Elevation gain 124m Calories burnt 481C ____________________________________________________________________________________ Receding Hairline Runs: • Run No 2467: FIRST SUMMER RUN hosted by SuperGlue JJ Melbourne Hills Memorial Reserve, Kamber Road (east side of Mona Vale Road, opposite Aumuna Road).
