The Tampa Bay Juniors played the Florida Eels in a home-and-home series last weekend. On Saturday, November 9th in Ellenton, the Juniors Empire team topped the Eels 4-1. Nick Mattone and Trey Stern scored second period goals to overcome a 1-0 deficit after one. Liam McCune and Jesse Bafia added third period goals, Jake Cuthbertson made 48 saves. Tampa Bay was 1-for-2 on the power play and 5-of-5 on the penalty kill. Also on Saturday, the Juniors Elite team dropped a hard fought 2-1 shootout decision to the Eels. The game was scoreless through two periods, before a Drake Stimpson goal at 15:02 game the Juniors the lead. An extra attacker goal by the Eels tied the game in the final minute of regulation, then the Eels outscored Tampa Bay 2-1 in the shootout to win the game, 2-1. Nick Malvin made 39 saves for the Juniors, who were 0-for-1 on the power play and 4-of-4 on the penalty kill. On Sunday, November 10th in Fort Myers, the Juniors Empire team beat the Eels 5-4. Brandon Goudreau scored twice, Raven Woodring, Nick Mattone and Trey Stern once each. Theo Woodbury made 43 saves for Tampa Bay, which went 0-for-4 on the penalty kill and 7-of-7 on the penalty kill. The Juniors Elite team lost to the Eels 5-3. Paul Lochner scored twice, Drake Stimpson once, Nick Malvin made 41 saves. Tampa Bay went 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-of-4 on the penalty kill. This weekend, the Juniors Empire team plays the Florida Junior Blades. Saturdays game is in Ellenton at 5:15pm. Sundays game is in Estero at 3:45pm. The Elite team plays in Rockledge against the Space Coast Hurricanes. Saturdays game starts at 5:00pm, Sundays game at 11:45am. All four games can be seen on Fasthockey.
