The Ten Commandment are the very words of the old covenant law. - TopicsExpress

The Ten Commandment are the very words of the old covenant law. (Ex 34:28 Moses remained there on the mountain with the LORD forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the LORD wrote the terms of the covenant--the Ten Commandments--on the stone tablets. Deut 3:14 and there are many more) the additional laws given were add to expand and explain those of the Ten Commandments. For instance :You shall not steal in Ex 20:15 was expanded for instance what happens If someone stole a ox as in Ex 22:1 If someone steals an ox or sheep and then kills or sells it, the thief must pay back five oxen for each ox stolen, and four sheep for each sheep stolen. Most Sabbath keepers who keep the Sabbath sadly break it by many ways, here are some exampls either cooking , reheating or having a braai (barbeque) Ex 35:3 You must not even light a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath. You shall not work on the Sabbath as in Ex 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. From this verse asking your kids to bring you a glass of water, or the maid cleaning your home you have broken the law. Wearing mixture of clothing as in Duet 22:11 You must not wear clothing made of wool and linen woven together. It is forbidden on the sabbath to leave the vicinity of ones city or the vicinity of the place where one was when the sabbath began by 2000 cubits or a total of 960 meters. Jesus breaks the Sabbath, Matt 12:1 and luke 6:1 At about that time Jesus was walking through some grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, so they began breaking off some heads of grain and eating them. Duet 23:25 If you enter your neighbors grainfield, you may pick kernels with your hands, but you must not put a sickle to their standing grain. John 5:18 So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For he not only broke the Sabbath, he called God his Father, thereby making himself equal with God. Kind of makes it hard to deny that Jesus never did break the Sabbath. There is not one verse that gentiles are told to keep the law and no instruction to keep the Sabbath in the New testament. However, in the New Testament, there is an even clearer purpose of the Sabbath stated. In Colossians 2:16-17, Paul reveals that the Sabbath was only a shadow of things to come and is now fulfilled in Christ. Hebrews 4:1-11, talks about a Sabbath rest that is available to, but not necessarily functional in, all New Testament believers. This New Testament Sabbath rest is simply a relationship with God in which we have ceased from doing things by our own efforts and are letting God work through us (Gal. 2:20; Heb. 4:10). The Sabbath is not a day, but rather a relationship with God through Jesus. Rest in His love and let Him use you today. This rest or relationship refers to an inner posture of trust and quiet confidence in Jesus’ finished work and in His ability to give you increase and good success as you go about doing what you need to do. Rest is not sitting around doing nothing and waiting for His blessings to fall into our laps. Beloved, what God doesn’t want you to do is worry and do things out of fear. He wants you to rest at Jesus’ feet and listen to His words of love and life. Let Him drive out your fears and lead you to good success! It is finished! Rest! We are complete in Christ Jesus alone and fully restored in our relationship with Abba Father...
