The Thanksgiving Holiday is primarily celebrated in the USA and Canada. Thanksgiving was celebrated as a holiday to give thanks to Almighty God first in North America in 1621. Our Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. That means more than 140 years before we were a nation, the people who were here were celebrating a day to intentionally give thanks to God for his blessings. Not only do we have a Christian heritage, but the U.S. emerged from a group of people who came here with a desire to recognize the Lordship of Jesus and to give thanks to God. That is pretty remarkable. George Washington proclaimed the first nationwide Thanksgiving Celebration in America marking November 26, 1789 “As a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and single favors of Almighty God.” What a heritage! And the incredible part of that tradition is if it is to be carried forward, it is up to us. What a privilege we have to help the generations following us to learn to be thankful to God. Join us on November 23 to Give Thanks as a community! Angus Buchan, Allen Jackson, and Charlie Daniels from the The Charlie Daniels Band will be joining us! #GiveThanksNashville
