The Three Stooges Arif Ahmad People asked me at work today Why is Pakistan always on the edge Because our wiring is faulty, I jokingly said Look at the show put up by the three They are feverishly cutting off the branch they are sitting on Nawaz, Imran and Qadri Nawaz Sharif Like “Pappu can’t dance sala” This jinxed premier cannot finish a term in office A family affair, a dynasty While the other two are not exactly poor He is the richest of the three Never the sharpest knife in the drawer Alleged abuse of power, intolerance and corruption fill up his CV And famously His counting stops at two Sharif in Center one, Sharif in Punjab too Imran had the most potential of the three That is before he lost his orbit and went tangentially Now a loose cannon he suffers from “Whatever happened to the Tsunami” Criticizes others for breathing, sneezing and everything And without an official position With powers granted by his own excellency Runs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by proxy Can’t stand that he lost in Punjab Adamant on running the country after a poor show in KP Condemns others for keeping their assets overseas For his Azadi march wants your children, your family And keeps his two sons safe outside the country And then there is Qadri In a league of his own The pick of the three Suffers from “Have to stay in the news by whatever means” disorder Try wrestling him over his Canadian nationality The Mike Tyson in him would chew your ear off Literally He seems so out of touch with reality To the extent of being seriously funny And probably not worth my while wasting my writing, my energy On a final note and to be fair “The Three Stooges” are not all at fault They may lack in maturity For the democracy in Pakistan is still in its infancy It needs time, patience and continuity And loads of TLC Do the bigwigs have it in them? Fingers crossed We will have to wait and see
