The Three laws of Performance by Steve Zaffon and Dave Logan has many good points about keeping your past in the past and drawing from the future to create your present. One of the stories I read in this book stood out to me.... An old Cherokee Chief is teaching his grandson about life: A fight is going on inside me, he said to the boy, It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil-he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego. The other is good- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you- and inside every other person, too The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, Which wolf will win? The old Chief simply replied, The one you feed. the best definition of the Crisis of Identity or Authenticity Ive read in a while. It has some great thoughts on development of Leadership skills, Persona, and thinking in a future tense rather than dwelling on past events. Im done with it if someone wants to borrow it.
