The Throwing of the Ball Ceremony participants and the beautiful Wakanyeja that caught the ball. First we all sweat together in the Inipi. Took two separate groups of children in and we dedicated prayers for a safe journey to the Spirit World for Ed Young Man Afraid of Horse Featherman who greeted these girls each day with a smile. We prayed and some cried because of his loss to our school. Afterwards they all dressed up for the ceremony and the Thunder beings gathered overhead. After a very gentle wind a few drops of water tapped each child hello. When the singing started it dissipated and when the final Sacred Lakota child had caught the ball for the last time a beautiful Rainbow stretched across our Eastern sky. A tribute for Ed, warmth for these beautiful girls hearts, a a picture perfect painting from Tunkasila. Love to all our beautiful Lakota Oyate. Hope this warms your heart.
