The Tigers take on the Western Bullflogs under the roof at Jihad - TopicsExpress

The Tigers take on the Western Bullflogs under the roof at Jihad stadium on Saturday and should go in with a bit of confidence after defeating one of their bogey sides Carltank in the “Benny Hill Cup” last week. It’s a game the Tigers should win although the young Bullflog pups are improving steadily and will give a good account of themselves in the contested ball area which is one of their strengths. The “chimp” Cotchin needs to take his game to another level after fading out in the second half last week & he butchered the ball too many times for a player of his ilk. We still get the ball into the wrong players hands before going inside our forward 50 with Grigg & Pettard bombing it in & hoping for a miracle in the second half last week. The distributors need to be players with good foot skills & decision making to lower the eyes & hit up leading forwards to maximise scoreboard pressure. For the Tigers to be a contender this year they need to learn to put sides away when they have control of the game and be able to stop the momentum of an opposition run on very quickly, this is what good sides do regularly. A couple of shining lights so far this year in Benny Griffiths & Dave Astbury have another chance to influence the game this week & being tall key position players this is a bonus for the Tigers. With both of our 1st choice ruckmen out (Maric & Hampson) the “Big O” steps in and will need to be competitive to give our midfield a chance to take control, hopefully he’s on song. Given that the roof will be closed there should be no excuses for unpressured skill errors as wind & rain will not be a factor in this game. I think the midfields will be quite even this week with the Tigers being without Delidio & the Dogs have young Libba, Cooney, Boyd & Griffen it will come down to who can convert their entries inside 50. The Tiges should have the edge here as they actually have some tall targets that can take marks unlike the Dogs who have a forward line composed of midgets & a few inanimate carbon rods over 6 ft. This game will be closer than most think due to the Tigers having about 6 of their key players missing but they still should have enough depth to win the contest. If they stick to the process of winning the ball inside, spreading from the contest & moving it quickly into our forward line with precision then they should win comfortably, stray away from this & it could end in tears.. Like the Tigers of old be strong and be bold..Yellow and Black ;)
