The Town of Lake Holcombe has recently been approved for a $1 million dollar loan through the State of Wisconsin Trust Fund for the future use of expanding the resources and utilities the town has to the site of the Lake Holcombe Business Development located approximately 1 mile north of Holcombe on the east side of state highway 27. The funding outlay for the Development includes grant applications for reimbursement from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Department of Transportation (TEA Grant), as well as applications to Rural Development among others being considered. The applications have the potential of reducing the projects costs to less than 20 percent of overall project costs with a maximum exposer of 50 percent of project costs. All of the grants are set up to reimburse the town for the expenses they incurred during the project once completed, which better defines the amount of the loan applied for. The town has been working with local property owners, engineers, Regional Planning, Wisconsin Economic Development, and many others to bring as much flexibility and utility to the 80 acre parcel as they can with the idea of inciting commercial investment in the township. The parcel has over 50 acres of viable space that will be offered to applicants. The project has been in the works for over a year. Finding land large enough, close enough, dry enough, that the owners would be willing to commit to sell at a reasonable price were all challenges for everyone involved. In partnership now with the property owners, the town has committed to submitting a plat including about 25 commercial retail and industrial lots for approval. Once separated from the private property, the property will be ready for sale to all eligible companies on a first come first serve basis. More information about available property can be found by contacting SEA Investments at 715-577-4273. Parts of the project completed include wetland delineation, soil testing and topographical survey. The plat work will define the new public lands and roads as well as the private land that will be offered to the prospective companies, and that part of the project is nearly complete. The next phase will be to start the engineering and construction of the various parts of the infrastructure and utilities that will be brought to the site.
