The UNHCR - the UN Refugee Agency - is set to launch its largest ever emergency appeal for money to help Syrian refugees and those displaced within the country. Inflation for everyday goods in Syria has spiralled, one NGO notes that a loaf of bread has gone up some 500% in two years. More than two-million people have now fled Syria - many having spent all their personal savings to flee the violence. Add the arrival of harsh winter weather conditions across the region and its easy to see why aid agencies are seriously alarmed. Its our main story on Newsday this morning.
