The UN’s agreement to allow the Palestinian Authority to join the International Criminal Court is an affront to the Middle East peace process and our ally Israel. Congress has been clear that this attempt by Mahmoud Abbas to circumvent the peace process should not be tolerated. In December, Congress passed and the president signed into law legislation that included a provision requiring that the U.S. cease providing financial aid to the Palestinians if they take action against Israel in the ICC. Should they attempt to initiate action against Israel at the ICC, the White House must uphold their executive responsibility and hold the PA accountable according to the law.
