The USAID Governance Strengthening Project, known as Taqadum, - TopicsExpress

The USAID Governance Strengthening Project, known as Taqadum, works with Iraq’s provincial governments to strengthen institutions and develop executive oversight capabilities, both of which lead to an increase in the quality of services to the Iraqi people. As part of this effort, USAID Taqadum has created the Organizational Self-Assessment and Transformation Program (OSTP), which trains provincial governments to diagnose and address issues in service delivery at the local level. Last week, USAID Taqadum provided final phase training for OSTP teams from Babil, Baghdad, Kirkuk, and Ninewa. The three-day training event focused on coordinating programs with senior provincial leaders, including how to allocate resources. By the end of the three-day training, participants found that they were able to produce detailed communications and action plans for each solution and prioritize action plans based on feedback from senior provincial leaders. In this way, USAID Taqadum continues to work with Iraq’s provincial governments to develop their ability to deliver services to their constituents and address service issues as they arise.
