The United States on Friday urged Myanmar to investigate reports that security forces and Buddhist mobs attacked members of the Rohingya Muslim minority this week, killing as many as 60 people. The Burmese government is denying the attacks against a Rohingya village near Maungdaw that resulted in the brutal slaughters of men, women & children. Hundreds of villagers have fled, and many Rohingya have been illegally detained. The government is now blocking access to the abandoned village, preventing anyone from checking for dead bodies. The violence followed a visit by infamous monk Wirathu, who urged the Arakanese to drive out the Rohingya.
