The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) will be hosting a distinguished lecturer on Monday, February 24, 2014, at 7:00 PM in Lecture Hall 001 at the Library/Lecture Center on the UTPB campus. =========================================== Reflections on the African Renaissance After Mandela. by Professor Wamba dia Wamba, a leading political theorist and practical politician. Professor Ernest Wamba dia Wamba was born in 1942 in the western most province of the former Belgian Congo. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy from Western Michigan University (1968), where he wrote his honors dissertation on the philosophers Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Jean-Paul Sartre. He earned an MBA from Claremont Graduate School in California (1972). Between 1968 and 1971, Wamba worked as an adviser to the Congo’s Ministry of Social Affairs. He was elected to the Senate of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and was the vice president of the Senate Permanent Commission on Legal and Administrative Matters in the transitional government between 1998 and 2003.
