The Uplifting Word/Luke 18. Jesus was teaching to always pray & never give up. He tells a story about a woman who came to a judge repeatedly saying, âgive me justice in this dispute with my enemyâ. The judge ignored her for a while, but finally said, âI donât fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy, Iâm going to see that she gets justice because she is wearing me outâ. Jesus asked,âdonât you think God will give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day & night?â 3-7. Two men went to the temple to pray, one was a despised tax payer & the other a Pharisee. The Pharisee was touting his own righteousness, & the tax collector stood at a distance beating his chest, saying,âO God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.â Jesus said, âI tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned justified before God. Those who exalt themselves shall be humbled, & those who humble themselves will be exaltedâ.9-14. Insight: How different is our society & the Kingdom of Godâs correctness.
