The Ups and Downs of Life... A former assistant master at the Berkhampstead National School is now secretary of the famed British South Africa Company. The Duke of Abercorn, K.G., formerly resident at Berkhampstead House, is president of the Board of Directors, and Earl Grey vice-president. Another former assistant master at the School is engaged on the sewerage works at Berkhampstead. (Bucks Herald, 13 May 1899).
