The Vampire Diaries Speculation: Will Bonnie Come Back to Life? Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) death certainly seems to be sticking on The Vampire Diaries. Usually, a main character would have come back to life by now! But, we’re not ready to give up on Bonnie’s mortality just yet, no matter how many remembrance ceremonies the Mystic Falls gang has for her. What are Bonnie’s chances of one day returning to this mortal plane? We speculate below. Bonnie’s sitch OK, we all know that on TVD it ain’t over until the actor stops getting paid and takes a job on another show (and, sometimes, even that doesn’t discount a guest star appearance). And Kat is still a main character on this show! Will she stay a ghost forever? We don’t think so. There are only so many storylines one can get when they can only interact with one other character. Eventually, they are going to run out of things for Bonnie to do. Then, they will have to decide if they want to bring Bonnie back to life or send her into some version of The Other Side Jeremy human-to-ghost signal doesn’t reach. Why she might come back to life This season on TVD, Qetsiyah aka Tessa aka the witch who created the first immortality spell is running around Mystic Falls. Though this might cause trouble for some of our TVDers (er, Katherine), it might bode well for Bonnie. Not only is Tessa technically her relative (about infinity times removed), but she might have the power to bring Bonnie back. After all, she managed to make her way back from The Other Side when Bonnie lowered the veil, and more impressively, to stay here. Basically, she owes Bonnie. If Tessa doesn’t have the power or will to bring Bonnie back, Silas might. He doesn’t seem to have the same power as Tessa, but he is a 2,000 year old warlock. That’s gotta count for something, right? After reading the official synopsis for Season 5, Episode 6: “Handle With Care,” we’re wondering if Silas won’t use Bonnie’s mortality as bargaining chip for Elena and Damon’s help in taking down Tess. According to the description, “Silas happily announces his new goal to Damon and Elena, but they are skeptical when he promises to accomplish one important task in return for their help.” An important task, you say? Why she might die for real On the other hand, we also see why TVD might want to keep Bonnie dead for real. It’s important to maintain high stakes in a drama if the viewer doesn’t believe anything truly bad can happen to their favorite characters. TVD has already started down this slippery slope as characters killed off, manage to come back (i.e. Jeremy). Every time the show does this, it gives the next “death” a little less dramatic punch. Don’t get us wrong, TVD still gives us some serious feels, but the show is skirting dangerous territory. If the ultimate consequence (i.e. death) loses its weight, then there’s only so much drama the show can cause. Do you think Bonnie will stay dead? Do you want her to? Sound off in the comments below! The Vampire Diaries airs at 8 p.m. Thursday nights on The CW.
