The WSJ reports that far more Republicans are unhappy with the GOP - TopicsExpress

The WSJ reports that far more Republicans are unhappy with the GOP than Democrats are with their party. These results should surprise no one. What IS surprising is where the dissatisfaction is coming from: not tea party GOPers, but non-tea party GOPers. 56% of tea party GOPers say they are satisfied with the GOP. Only 41% of non-tea party GOPers say the same. These results should shock anyone who spends any significant amount of time on Twitter and Facebook. On social media, you can shake a tree and a thousand tweets or posts will fall out, almost all of them tea party criticism of the GOP. For me, it raises the question: just how out of touch is Twitter, Facebook, talk radio hosts, Fox News, pundits, bloggers, and the rest of conservative new media with what GOP voters actually think? More broadly, it means that if we ever want to start winning elections again, we must remember that both the country and even the GOP as a whole is less conservative than many of us think or wish it were. This doesnt mean that we need to move to the left. It means that we must prioritize and focus most on issues that enjoy the broadest public support. For GOP voters, this means mostly economic and fiscal conservatism, personal responsibility, and being strong on defense and national security issues.
