The Washington State legislative session has begun on a low note. A bill has been introduced in Olympia (HB 1104) that would criminalize undercover investigations at agricultural operations in our state--a law otherwise known as Ag-gag. TWO PAWS WAY DOWN to Whatcom County 42nd Legislative District Representative Vincent Buys who is a co-sponsor of this bill. Rather than working to ensure that illegal practices dont occur at agricultural operations, Representative Buys and other lawmakers want to pass a bill making it illegal to investigate and gather evidence to present to law enforcement. This bill is scheduled for a public hearing in the House Public Safety Committee at 8 am on Tuesday, January 20th. THIS BILL IS BAD FOR ANIMALS, BAD FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION, BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT & BAD FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Please contact Representative Buys (or your local representative if you dont live in Whatcom County) and let him know you strongly oppose HB 1104 and any type of similar legislation.
