The Way In The Sanctuary Psalms 77:11 I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. 12 I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds. 13 Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary; Who is so great a God as our God? The root of “sanctuary” is the same as for “sanctify,” and refers to a holy place, a place where the presence of God resides. It has come to mean any place of refuge, as when refugees from a war or persecution come to another country and request sanctuary there. For us as believers, the place where God is, also becomes our safe place, our refuge: Psalms 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. This is the idea of the “secret place” in Psalms 91, but that “place” is not a church, or a home, or some isolated fortress. The sanctuary of Yahweh, the place where His presence dwells, is inside of each believer in Yeshua. Its not our body, though it is located in our bodes. It is not our minds or hearts, but an empty place inside each of us that only the Holy Spirit can fill. This is the temple not made with hands, where our own spirit, reborn, sits in heavenly places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6). It is to that sanctuary that God invites us, a place of remembrance and a place of meditation and worship. A church building is a place where we come together to share fellowship and worship with other believers. Unless we already have the sanctuary inside of us, though, we wont find it in a building. It is certainly true that we can come to a saving knowledge of Yeshua there, or in any other place, but just being “in church” will not bring us into Gods presence. There is a gospel song that says, “When the Holy Ghost shows up, well have church.” Brethren, if we belong to Yeshua, the Holy Ghost shows up when we do. Yeshua Himself gave us the promise that, whenever two or more of us are gathered in His name, He is in our midst (Matthew 18:20). We can only gather IN His name when we carry His name, His nature and being, WITH us. He is not only in the sanctuary, the Holy place, He IS the sanctuary. He is the Way to it, the Truth in it, and the Life of it. He is the gate to all three courts of the temple, the outer one of the flesh (the Way), the inner one of the soul (the Truth), and the most holy one of the sanctuary (the Life). The sanctuary is also where the Father is, and it is in Yeshua that we meet and have fellowship with the Father in the most intimate of all relationships. When we as the body of Yeshua truly come together in the Spirit as one, Heaven expands to encompass us all. When we leave this flesh, Heaven expands to include our whole being, and that of every other creature in Christ. We see Heaven now only through the dim glass of our mortality; then we will see that place, the dwelling of Love, face to face. Prayer: We lift our hands to You, Daddy God, in the sanctuary You have made in each one of us, Your children. Let us abide in Your presence always, as You abide in us. We give You all praise and glory in the Way in the Sanctuary, our precious Lord, Yeshua. Amen! Brenda K.
