The Wenatchee School District has agreed to a settlement that will compensate Ed Knaggs, the high school teacher who presided over a P.E. class in which a student drowned in 2011 while keeping him from returning to his teaching and coaching position at the school. As part of the separation agreement, the district agrees to employ and pay Knaggs his basic teaching salary for two years, while keeping Knaggs on administrative leave. He’ll be paid about $165,000 over the span of employment, from Sept. 1, 2014, and continuing until Aug. 31, 2016. (full story available at wwrld.us/knaggs-settlement)
