The West Wallsend Steam Tramway.... The history on the ground of the West Wallsend Steam Tramway is slowly disappearing with development with only a few remnants remaining. The following photos were taken in the town and along George Booth Drive. Construction of the 8 mile/ 13km extension from Wallsend began in April 1909 and opened 19th December 1910 with the last tram running on the 2nd November 1930. The tramway depot was located close to what is now Kokera street and most likely to be now under the Stockland Mall carpark. Other photos will appear in the comments..
