The Western States 100 mile race started today in Squaw Valley, California at 5:00 am. Rob Krar is the leader, having recently passed through Browns Bar: 89.9 miles. He has 10.3 miles to go from that point (the race is 100.2 miles long,) and if he holds 8 minute pace, he will cross the finish line in Auburn at about 14:46 and change. Tim Olsons course record is 14:46:44, so it could get interesting. Stephanie Howe leads the women, having gone through Rucky Chucky at 78 miles. A lot can happen in the last several miles, as witnessed when Geoff Roes overtook Anton Krupicka with about five miles to go a few years back. Heres a link for you: ultralive.net/ws100/webcast.php
