The Willow Tree Festival in Gordon Nebraska is a true Chautauqua. Opera singers- Native Americans-Jazz-and Folk like my style have been playing there for years. It was 26 years ago today on a Sunday. I was headed for church there to play when I got the call to come back home now for the birth of our second child- a son I panicked after calling the local airport- we could afford the child or the plane ride but not both. Friends calmly drove me across the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to Rapid City SD and a ride to Denver on Frontier Airlines-I drove the VW Bug from Stapleton Airport to Vail where Pam and the girls were having a party-waiting for me (and James) to get there. He arrived that evening and has made our lives a joy. He is loved by his sister Casey Salestrom who has been taking care of him since this day... and his Momma Pamela Salestrom. We are so proud of him and in the pursuit of a happy life, hes found it. I am with him and Casey today in Big Sky MT and then I head to the Willow Tree Festival tomorrow to play this weekend.... my first appearance in 26 years.
