It was so beautiful and cool There is gold and silver And precious metals in this earth I have come to this wonderful land. Yes, I have come To this wonderful land. Strangers are coming here After the IT Boom Strangers of all types Rich, goondas, land grabbers, real estate mafias and government officials They are taking away our lakes and rivers Lakes get sold to private bodies I hear from a friend that the Bureaucrat who sold the lake Gets a flat in Mumbai for being loyal to them as a gift. Could be true???? I wonder how the government thinks that mountains, rivers and lakes are owned by them To sell or privatize??? Who do they think they are?? Our Spirits wont like it If we let others take over this land. No, our spirits wont like it If we let others take over our lakes. You all showed thru the candle light vigil how we care for our lake. We will not allow any private body to take over our lake All lakes are ours, no government can take it over from us. The trees disappear overnight Despite Hasiru-Usiru friends working tight. In the name of so called development Even the MG Road looks like a desert With the boulevard gone for a six, the new boulevard is just farce. People have been displaced For a new airport Daily people are driven to the edge to survive Development they say??? For whom? We Need Our Lakes, We Need Our trees??? “Hmmm, Bangalore has changed,” Where are all the humans, I wonder, Seems like all life’s gone asunder!
