The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. - John 1:14 Its astounding first of all that the Son of God left heavenly perfection to enter our imperfect world. Jesus could have come as a grown wealthy king, but he came not just as a child, or a baby, but all the way back to just a vulnerable fertilized egg. He could have come to a rich family in a palace, but he came to commoners who had to give birth to him in a place fit for animals, not humans. He was quickly made a refugee to Egypt, for his life was in danger... God chose to enter into the very brokenness of our world. It cannot be said that He doesnt understand our pain and suffering. He is God-with-us, our Emmanuel. He came to bring healing, wholeness, and restoration to our brokenness. He came to love us back to health...and the ultimate display of that love was when he gave up his life so that we could live.
