The YWCA partners with local medical professionals and hospitals to offer an in-depth childbirth preparation class that is available to all members of the community, no matter where they choose to birth. Our course is unique because we address all those “other” things that are not part of a typical Lamaze class or regularly scheduled doctor’s visit. We make the course interactive, having participants get on the floor and practice different positions, breathing techniques and massage methods to ease pain and anxiety during the laboring process. Our goal is to have Mom walk away from the course feeling informed and empowered to make the choices she needs to make for the safe, healthy delivery of her child.
