The Young Scientist Symposium is being held today at IST Austria. Entitled “Synchronize! Clocks, Rhythms and Communication across the sciences“, the 1-day conference is about the emergence of regular patterns in initially disorganized systems. As synchronization appears all over science, the invited speakers - Roger Wattenhofer (ETH Zurich), Michael Rosenblum (University of Potsdam), Andrew Oates (University College London), Lev Tsimring (University of California San Diego), John Lisman (Brandeis University) and Pascal Fries (MPI for Neuroscience, Frankfurt) - deal with it from a variety of perspectives including computer science, physics and biology. The scientific program was opened by Michael Rosenblum’s informative talk on “Synchronization: from pendulum clocks to neurons”. More information at goo.gl/dOk61J
