The Zeitz Foundation successfully organised the third edition of the Samuel Etoo Laikipia Unity Cup football tournament, which ended on Sunday with the opening of the Samuel Etoo Laikipia Unity Football Academy, School and Environmental Education Centre at Endana Secondary School, Laikipia. The tournament, part of the Laikipia Unity Programme, uses the power of sports to raise awareness and promote action in #environmental and #species #conservation throughout Laikipia County, involving approximately 40,000 people annually and attracted 450 players and thousands of spectators. The Samuel Eto’o academy, conceived and designed by PITCHAfrica, will not only focus on nurturing young #football talents, but also address livelihoods and environmental issues affecting the community. The Laikipia Unity Cup 2014 would not have been possible without the generous inputs from our supporters. Of special mention are the British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK), Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA), Laikipia Wildlife Forum (LWF), the Nanyuki Water Company (NAWASCO) and United for Wildlife.
