The Zenith of hypocrisy and audacity is to eulogise martyr Ali Mustafa without explicitly condemning the murderous regime that ended his life with the barrel bombs that have killed hundreds of civilians in Aleppo over the last few months. It is also an insult to Ali’s memory to only mention his activism for Palestine while glossing over the fact that he was just as revolutionary on Syria. Yes, he was not only a photo-journalist documenting the situation in Syria. He was an internationalist revolutionary and had the moral courage that so many ostensibly “pro-Palestinian- folks so terribly lack. If you mourn Ali but fail to side with the revolution that he put his life on the line for, so pretty please, save your crocodile tear or ride the bandwagon of another fancy cause. You don’t belong here. Don’t you dare appropriate Ali’s legacy while you remain silent over Assad’s other crimes.
