The adaptive re-use of churches has become a major revitalization - TopicsExpress

The adaptive re-use of churches has become a major revitalization movement in post-industrial cities. For a city of its size, Hazleton is endowed with countless churches rich in architectural features and cultural history. Its a city that could promote the scale and beauty of its religious buildings. But it must find ways to keep these buildings alive. St. Pauls Methodist Church, located at Church and Green Streets near Downtown Hazleton, is an example of a former church that could be adapted for other, non-religious uses, from apartments to art studios to performing arts. The church is in great need of repair, but Jacqueline Evans photo essay captures the beauty that still lingers behind its walls and stained glass windows.
