The advice nurse recommended I go to the ER yesterday when I - TopicsExpress

The advice nurse recommended I go to the ER yesterday when I called her describing a tingling sensation in my left arm and a tightness in my chest. She also recommended I NOT go to the hospital affiliated with my insurance if I wanted to be seen in a timely manner and to not drive myself. So, Pops drives me to the hospital and they immediately perform an EKG. It was fine, so they sent me out to the waiting room. Over the next hour I submitted a urine sample, several vials of blood and had chest x-rays. and I waited (WE waited... poor Pop) all told, we waited over 9 hours in that ER waiting room (I was next for 4 hours!) before being brought back to a room. I thought that at this point (as my labs had been back for hours) that they were going to send me home. After all. if they were going to admit me, theyd have done it by now right? So, finally around 11pm, I get the news (from my doctor, Doogie Howser) that theyd like to keep me overnight, but they dont have a room for me yet. 3 more hours passed and they came in to tell me theyd be transferring me to the hospital my insurance is affiliated with. So, at 1:30 in the morning I was transported across town via ambulance. I answered all the same questions (for, like, the 400th time), endured more poking, prodding and wire placement and FINALLY got enough peace to fall asleep. Of course, they woke me up every hour or so to ask me the SAME slew of questions and poke and prod me more. At one point this morning I awoke with 5 strangers hovering over me (all in lab coats) talk about freaky! Any how... long story short (ROFL) I am home with no answers as to the nature of my episode, but all the lab work turned up some other issues that needed to be addressed. On a positive note... 2 very nice looking EMTs had their hands all up in my gown last night trying to get to my chest. (the fact that they were trying to hook up my leads is of no relevance!)
