"The antibiotics issue is one that needs to be addressed in the American government because it affects millions of Americans. In fact, [last year] two million people got sick because of resistance to antibiotics and 23,000 people died because of it. Antibiotics should only be used in sick animals who need them. 20% of antibiotics are used in humans, while 80% are used in animals only for the purpose of making them fatter and illness resistant. Farmers are not thinking about the care of animals, just profit from them. A solution would be to only give antibiotics to sick animals who actually need them. Farmers should not be allowed to pump their animals with antibiotics only in self-interest.
