The author is perfectly willing to disregard popular theories but seems completely unwilling to question dating methods. He even mocks those who do. Apparently hed sooner believe that humans have been around and had modern-ish technology for hundreds of millions of years than consider that our relatively new methods of dating materials may be faulty. Im reminded of a story of a boy who was convinced he was dead. After struggling for a while without success to convince him otherwise, his parents consulted a doctor. The doctor asks the boy if dead people bleed to which the boy responds no. The doctor then promptly pricks the boys finger. The boy looks down at the blood proceeding from his finger and says What do you know. Dead people do bleed. Sometimes its the obvious things that get challenged while the shaky reasoning that contradicts it that is accepted without question. And people who do this have a tendency to pat themselves on the back for being open minded while they do so.
