The author of this piece has demonstrated why I rarely get into discussions over politics these days, but when I do venture into that arena, I do my best to not take anyones words out of context. I think it goes without saying then, that I appreciate others who do the same. Note, I am not defending any one side in any of this; all Im doing with this post is offering a different perspective from the thoughts of one author with the hope that more people will stop to consider how their views can be skewed by blindly agreeing with a person simply because s/he is on the right side of anything. As I posted on a friends copy of this article, my feeling is - - nope, sorry, but even I have to take a step back and read those comments for what they really are instead of declaring them an admission of bigotry. What Limbaugh was clearly saying is, in my opinion, that Americans dont feel comfortable saying what they really think for several reasons: 1. The person who voted for Obama and is now disappointed by what s/he sees as a lack of getting what I paid for is now also angry or resentful toward him or herself for making that mistake or perhaps too proud to admit that s/he was wrong. 2. Some folks fear that if they speak their minds, theyll be accused of being Racists, some against their own race, and relationships that were built on a mutual appreciation for Obama will now be in jeopardy. 3. Others want to take responsibility for being a part of making history so wont admit that they may have been wrong. And Im sure that there are many other reasons, but nowhere in this transcript did I hear (not even as insinuation) that Republicans refuse to work with the president because hes black; he said they are paralyzed by fear, and this, I can see as reality. Those of us on the left would have been paralyzed by fear should Romney have won his campaign, and we should, if nothing else, be able to admit that Limbaugh actually has a point. politicususa/2014/03/11/rush-limbaugh-admits-republicans-refuse-work-obama-black.html
