The backdrop of my today’s radio show at Family Love FM 103.9 is what I wish to expand on. I have restricted my comments and views to what others write and news views simply not to malign anybody with my ‘passionate views’. In this case I will come out of my shell to illustrate a befitting Radio outing. It’s not every other day you get invited to a Radio station so the world can hear you. It’s like historical. It’s about how Feyemi of Ekiti State conceded defeat honourably under a propaganda oriented APC. We all agreed it is commendable. With us apart from Karibe Ojigwe, the Nigeria Super Eagles defensive midfieder , is a notably cracked voiced Ogbonnaya Akomas, an English teacher who insisted he must assert himself. He is almost within retirement age or beyond so we gave him the honour. Back to facts, Ekiti incumbent governor conceded defeat, I guess because he had no other recourse. The USA sent a 30 man monitoring team who acknowledged that it was freest and fairest election in Nigeria. The security agencies did their part and Prof Jega fulfilled his promise. We hope he can replicate that in general, more tasking elections. And of course each Party had a represented member in each polling booth. Any right thinking Nigerian would, and should accept such defeat honourably. That is not the point, the point is that this will usher in a new democracy in Nigeria. If elected officials begin to understand that rigging and money “pittance” elections and inducing youths to thuggery is a no go area, they will begin to invest in societal welfare and upgrades of infrastructures. Otherwise an incumbent will be voted out. This is a turning point in Nigerian History. We digressed to youths. I am touchy about that since I will soon elapse as a youth. And I, only me know what I have gone through as a Nigerian growing and struggling to survive in an extremely unfavourable conditions were even as astute as you are, it so difficult to break even unless you indulge in practices outside positive decorum. Thus we agreed that youths have to be sensitized to understand that neglecting politics and voting rights is akin to safe guarding suffering and marginalization. Youths must be groomed to be patriotic to their Nation, their Fatherland Nigeria. Encouraged irrespective of whatever juvenile they exhibit as the quest for adventure is predominant in youths. They must be provided, with positive guidance at every turn. Supported too at all times! This is the duty of government. Our governments, seems, to want to despotically stay in power for ever until the fall with cancer or heart failure or pass away in their sleep. This trend results in redundancy in governance. This brings about what my Good Friend Nnaji Obed Asiegbu SSA to governor TA Orji on E- governance( a defined youth) recommended on request: That Youths should avoid thuggery for pittance, that youths should be sensitized about elections and being involved, that youths should be given the chance and supported to vie for elected positions as that will give them tutelage to manage the affairs of the state given that they will eventually do so. The trend in developed countries is to give the progressive leadership youths with positive initiatives the chance earlier. Obama at 46, Italian prime minister at 39, and so on, plus Cameron of UK has turned history forward in their respective countries. The sooner we understand we are working for the future the better. Only myopia designates leadership to despotism, resulting to retrogressive leadership especially in a low human resource, capacity leaders. These are abundant in Nigerian governance, their utterances and governance is medieval sometimes. As a group we are sensitizing and have applied to government for the necessary support so we can assist upgrade our status quo genuinely. Information and awareness is the ultimate power. We have the capacity to do so much for ourselves. The sooner, the better for us all. They youths must be given the chance to support at all times. We must adopt progressive measures and enhance the youth advantage forums. That is where we wish to bring out the best of our future. We do not want to shout it, but we believe our fathers, so far, has not done us so much good. We believe it could have been better, we wish it to be better. We wish to give our support in social justice and good governance. The youths of Nigeria clamour for hope.
